This summer, I wore a half-collar that was a keepsake from my great-grandmother. The fabric is hand-embroidered with dianthus flowers, stitch by stitch, and is filled with feelings that have been passed down through the ages. Even in the midsummer sun, this outfit helped me to calm my mind.
The season will pass, and summer haneri will be worn again next year. But every time I pick it up, I remember the quiet time and warmth my great-grandmother spent sewing. I hope to spend next summer with this haneri close to my heart.

A hand-embroidered half-collar worn by my great-grandmother, who was born in the Meiji era.
A captivating hand-embroidered half-collar.
The fabric is so thin that I'm almost afraid to wear it under my kimono.
It was a white silk gauze, but there were sweat stains in places.
I dyed it a vibrant pink.
The pattern is nadeshiko.
